Nina Harper the author of Succubus in the City had a short interview posted on the SciFi channel’s website recently…
That link is here.
Two parts of the interview that interest me are:
Since she’s a Succubus, her job is to provide souls for hell, which means when she has sex with a man, he’s toast. “Literally,” Harper said. “There are two escape clauses on this. If a man can satisfy Lily before himself, she can let him live, and if a man falls in love with her and asks her to marry him, she can become mortal. Lily would really like to fall in love.”
The other part is:
The sequel, Succubus Takes Manhattan, comes out in December, and a third book is in the works.
I have her novel on my bedside table as my current reading companion and I hope to have it finished in the next week or so and write a decent review of it for the Blog and the SuccuWiki…
Now as for her comment about her Succubus… Mostly it is a traditional Succubus with just a smidge of my kind of Succubi mixed into things… She “does the bidding of others”, which is a little bit of a disappointment to me as she’s trying to find her own way and her own love which I think should make her less wanting to do what “the powers that be” tell her to do and instead follow her own heart and soul…
Yes…
Succubi do have a soul… If you can love you can have a soul too…
Enjoy humpday!

I like this idea. It’s as close to our vision of a Succubi as anyone has gotten yet. It’s a great source for conflict. What she is conflicting with who she is inside. And the fact that there’s two sequels means that she won’t have a happy ending anytime soon. Sounds like a great story.
