In 2010, the artist Tara McPherson created a work of art for the Dark Pop exhibition at the Last Rites Gallery in New York City called Lilitu. Originally painted on Linen with oil paints, the art featured the image of a dark skinned naked woman with long red hair rising from a pool of water holding a severed male head.

The artist described the work as showing a representation of the Sumerian myth of the demon Lilitu. According to that myth, she represents chaos, seduction and ungodliness. She is a sexually charged yet infertile succubus who behaves aggressively toward men and children killing them at a whim. In all of her forms, she has cast an evil spell on humankind.

The art was transformed into a vinyl figurine by KidRobot in 2011 that stands approximately eight inches in height. It displays Lilitu in a similar pose to the painting that inspired the work, but without her holding the severed male head of the original work. It was released as a limited edition figurine with a total run of only 200 such figurines and a selling price of $250 US. The figurine was completely sold out long before it was produced.
