Chapter 21

By TeraS

The thing about the Dark was that it was too confident. It thought that it had all of the answers and that no one could oppose it.

That was almost true.

She could, and did . . . regularly.

It had become almost an obsession for her now. There were so few who would challenge the Dark when it appeared, and so it fell to her to do so. It wasn’t a chore or an imposition; it had to be done, and she had seen enough of the Dark and what it was capable of to know that the best thing to do was what she did: drive it mad with anger and make it stop thinking.

Losing the one portal did that. Then letting it stew in its anger had made it get involved intimately with mortals and their world. She wondered if, this time, it would actually learn something from the experience or not.

Making the portal vanish was child’s play for a being like her. If the Dark ever figured out just how powerful she was, it might actually pause to think twice about the plans it had against Tera and her kind.

The thought did make her smile as the portal showing the severed tail reappeared among all of the Dark’s other ones. She stood there for a time, tapping a single pink fingernail against the surface and trying to decide what would be the most unpleasant thing she might do.

She could destroy this portal—the thought had been there before—but she had her own plans, and, for those, this one portal needed to remain, at least for the moment, in spite of what it showed.

The tapping stopped as she placed that hand against the surface and whispered to the awful image that it showed, “It will not be long. Promise.”

And, unlike some beings, she kept her promises.

She turned away, coming to the decision that, for once, just this once, she was going to make the Dark know what it was to lose something valuable.

What followed was the sound of fingernails raking across portal after portal, each of which turned white against the darkness, throwing light into a place which despised it. She didn’t ruin every single one of them, but, when she was done, she had left the Dark but three portals.

She thought that she just might be able to hear the scream of anger from it from three universes away when it returned to see what she had done here, and that thought made her smile slightly.

She glanced once more at the portals that remained, satisfied that this would be a problem for it, that it would have to spend effort and time repairing the damage if it could, and that, thankfully, might give the others needed time to figure out what was happening and where.

As much as she wanted to, she couldn’t actually get involved in the battle or make choices for those involved. It was, after all, necessary that all beings make their own choices, no matter how wrong or ill-advised they might well be.

Still, she had one thing that the Dark didn’t have: trust. Trust in others, trust that they would make good choices, but, most of all, trust in that one person that saved her life so long ago and, in doing so, changed her own universe for the better.

She would always owe that person for that gift.

She passed into the ether, on her way to where she needed to be. If the Dark could get involved with mortals, she could as well … to a point. But first she needed to talk to someone who needed to understand that some paths were not worth following.

Following the path of one who owed the succubi—and Tera, in particular—her life … that was the most foolish thing that it had ever done.

And it would soon learn.

As for the Dark, possessing one of its pawns was distasteful. But there was little choice. That damnable creature had cost him his watch over the tail. The one thing that would, if its plans went to completion, cause the barriers to fall before it and thus have what it wanted most.

But having to deal with a corporal form? That was something that it did not enjoy in the slightest. Emotions, thoughts, images from this pawn were getting caught between its own thoughts and, as well, it knew that its own thoughts would be mixing the other way.

But the important thoughts, the ones that it needed for itself, those it kept under lock and key, or so the Dark would believe. The problem was, as it always was, that nothing is ever completely closed off when beings merge, even if only for a short time.

Fingerprints leave smudges, after all …

It took the Dark some time to return to where the tail was kept. The wards around the place made it impossible for someone to appear there without seeing the place first and entering at one specific spot. From the outside there were traps and obstacles that it knew would stop any magic user from getting close.

But this pawn was tuned to the place and the wards would fall before it. Even so,   the time … the time was taking far too long for the Dark’s liking.

And so time passed, the Dark fumed, and the universe turned …

Chapter 22

By TeraS

“I think I am?”

Tom looked behind him expecting to see Camilla there, and she was… sort of.

It was Camilla, but her tail and horns were grey instead of black and her hair had turned color from blonde to purple. Tom couldn’t stop the words that came out, “I liked the blonde and black better Camilla.”

She smirked.

And Tom paused. He was pretty sure that Camilla didn’t smirk.

“It’s a long story Tom and right now we haven’t got the time.”

And that was wrong as well. Camilla never called him Tom. Mary Ann tried to get away again and Tom was forced into flipping her over, straddling her, and then locking her wrists together with handcuffs before sitting on her legs. Having some control of the situation, he looked at Camilla and said, “We’ve got the time. You want to let me in on why the style change? Got tired of your hair color or something?”

She ran her left hand through her hair, pulling on it slightly, “Okay, short version: I’m Camilla’s bad side, I’m a bitch, I’m nothing like her, and you don’t want to screw with me. That good enough for you?”

“I’m never going to understand this am I?”

She smirked again, “Oh I dunno… You’d make an interesting Incubi… I can put in a good word for you if you’re up for it?”

Tom shook his head, “Thanks but I have enough issues with my life as it is. The universe isn’t what I knew it was, there are people, like you, that are legends and I am supposed to deal with that. Oh yes, and I am acting under the command of a Queen of a race of beings that exist on sex and pleasure and I have no idea why I should be, but I’m doing it anyway.”

She nodded, “Tera does have her ways doesn’t she? At least she isn’t using that pitchfork of hers on you. Mind you, some like that sort of thing…”

“So what do I call you? Not Camilla or Punkie Brewster or what?”

She leaned down so that they looked into each other’s eyes, “You really want to know who I am?”

Tom didn’t finch, “I trust Camilla. She’s proven herself. I don’t trust you.”

She nodded, “Good. Backbone and will. I can see why Tera wants your help. You can call me Nina.”

“All right. Nina it is. Tell me something, seriously, does every one of you have an ‘a’ at the end of your name?”

She laughed, “No… Just some of us do. Congratulations Tom, you just endeared yourself to me. Camilla will be pleased to know that, make sure you tell her when you see her again.”

The smirk vanished and she looked past Tom to Mary Ann on the floor beneath him, “You mind getting off her? She and I have… a past.”

“Good or bad?”

“I won’t kill her. At least not just yet.”

“If I don’t?”

“Then I’ll have to move you Tom. You don’t want me to I promise you.”

Tom got up and moved to the side. Nina reached down and pulled Mary Ann to her knees by the hand cuffs before grasping her chin. “Hello bitch. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you. How long has it been?

The fear in Mary Ann only allowed a quiet whisper of an answer to come, “Babylon.”

“That’s right. As I remember it, you came into my temple and tried to turn my followers didn’t you? You corrupted them from the top down and in the end you were responsible for how many deaths?”

“I don’t know.”

“I do. I remember them very well. You watched as they fought, hundreds of them falling to your promises of riches that were hidden from them. And when it was over, what did they find inside the walls?”

Mary Ann closed her eyes, “Because everything they gave you, you returned to them… and more. You… you cared about cattle and…”

Tom didn’t see Nina’s hand as it struck Mary Ann sending her sprawling across the floor.

“They are not cattle you worthless bitch. They are more than you will ever be and ever can be. You can’t understand that can you?”

There was no answer and Nina pulled her once again to her knees by the handcuffs, “Here’s the deal. You tell us what’s going on and who’s in charge and i won’t kill you today. You lie to me, and I’ll start taking you apart one piece at a time…”

She extended her left hand and to Tom’s shock a silver sword appeared in her hand, flames dancing alone the blade. Tom thought he could heard the sword… growling?

She placed the edge against Mary Ann’s neck, “You know what this is. You know exactly what will happen if I strike you with it. Camilla wouldn’t, she follows the new ways, but I don’t. So make up your mind, right now. and tell me why you are here, and what you have done to Ginger.”

Tom coughed, “Nina… You said you wouldn’t kill her.”

She didn’t look at Tom, “Oh this won’t kill her. It will however take away what makes her special. What she is, she won’t be anymore.”

A cruel smile appeared, “And since she is so enamored with being immortal…”

Mary Ann closed her eyes, “You are a fool. I serve powers greater than you. You’ll never leave this room alive if you harm me.”

“Oh I’ve already harmed you. Now I’ll cripple you…”

And she pulled the blade back and then swung it towards Mary Ann’s neck…

Is this a Succubus themed shirt or not?

Some of the things I find are Succubus in nature. They have horns or tails or something else about them that just says to me yes, that is a Succubus… And sometimes it’s not quite so clean cut a choice to make…

Like this image on a T-shirt I found recently…

This art is by an artist named Summer Rae, and is the image that you find on a T-shirt that you can find for sale on Cafe Press here. Pardon the imprint on the image, but there is little I can really do about that.

She has the look of a Succubus, the clothing, pose and so on, but she is missing horns and a tail, so that is a bit of a shame. I’m not exactly sure what is behind her, but from the position of it, the likely candidate is a pair of skeleton-like wings.

I like her a lot, I would like her more if she did have horns and a tail too…

I did a little research and found a page on MySpace that belongs to this artist, and she appears to update it regularly, so for those of you that are on MySpace you might want to have a peek there… She also has an artist’s page at Cafe Press but that hasn’t been updated in over a year…

I’m hoping to find more of her works soon, and I am hoping that there are more Succubi as well!

Yet another Morrigan Aensland YouTube…

Time for yet another YouTube of everyone’s favorite anime Succubus Morrigan Aensland!

And if you can’t see it here:

Some really nice images of Morrigan in this one, a few repeats from other videos but that’s okay… There is one image of her in the beginning of the video that has her being very red in colour which I don’t quite understand as that’s not really her colour traditionally…

Still, some really nice images of her in this one…

A Review of Covenant of the Faceless Knights: Beginnings by Gary F. Vanucci

I think it is important that when an author starts any sort of work, and this includes myself, there are three things that matter. One is character. It doesn’t matter how good the rest of the story is if your characters, especially the main ones, are not interesting. The second  is their motivation. It is not necessary to give the reader everything at once. They will wait for the truths to be revealed if the story is worth it. Lastly, at least to me, there needs to be something to battle against, or at least to overcome that makes the characters grow over time and the motivation in each of them come to make sense.

That’s not always an easy thing to do, especially when there are not a handful, but many, many characters that are needed to make the story ring true. It is a talent that I have not seen many writers manage that can have all sorts of characters with their goals clashing together and keep the reader interested in finding out what happens to each and every one of them.

I think this author managed that exceptionally well…

Covenant of the Faceless Knights: Beginnings by Gary F. Vanucci

Covenant of the Faceless Knights: Beginnings by Gary F. Vanucci

The story is described as:

Covenant of the Faceless Knights is a classic tale of good vs. evil set in a fantasy realm where a naive elf finds himself at a crossroads and faces returning to the life he once knew or accepting a life of unknown dangers. This story follows the lives and interactions of four very unique people at different stages of life and with very different motivations, that come together to stop an ancient artifact from falling into the hands of an ever-growing, malevolent force.

The story tells of how these four individuals interact, grow and overcome not only their enemies, but conflicting personalities as well in order to come together as an effective unit under dire circumstances. Each of them brings a desired skill set along with a handful of baggage from their past that they must overcome in order to accomplish their goal and ensure the safety of the Realm of Ashenclaw.

From the first page, it is obvious that the story is set in a rich universe of characters and settings. Moving from place to place in the book isn’t a simple info dump but instead is a well considered and thought out picture that the author draws in your mind. The same is true of the characters in the book. None of them are anything like a cardboard cutout which is a pleasant surprise. The same is true of the minor characters as well, they are not simply cannon fodder and have a purpose in the core of the story which makes their appearances important to note. I won’t spoil which ones are, but I will say that the ones that make their way through the entire story are, at the end of it, almost main characters in a way and their return in the next story I do look forward to.

While the lead up to the first meeting of the main characters of the story takes a little while, I didn’t see a fault in doing so. The time was well spent in giving the reader a look into this world, some of the dangers and pleasures that exist in it and it established the world really well. But again, this wasn’t an info dump. The story was told in a way that made it fit into what was happening to the characters and that gave the story life. I found that from the beginning I cared about what was happening to them all and I wanted to see what would happen next.

The mystery of this world is interesting as well. There are a lot of questions that occur as you make your way through the story, nut not all of them are answered. That’s a good thing as an air of mystery I think lends itself well to the overall theme.

There is an underlying tension in the book that appears not just in the characters, but in the world itself. It’s almost as if everyone is waiting for something to happen that will make the past history of this world a minor event in comparison… and that past history is violent and almost brought this world to its end.

The story is a quest of course. A quest to find something stolen from the side of the light which  was keeping it safe from the forces of darkness. The interesting thing is that the heroes of the work don’t actually come in contact with the one who is constructing the threat, never discover who they are, and only know of the one quest they are undertaking. But as that quest unfolds, we see the threat building in parallel with the adventurers as they attempt to fulfill their goals and overcome very high odds of success. But then this is the first story of course and so there is world building to do and events to place into motion… all of which I am sure will be encountered as the overall story arc moves to the next part of the story when the next book in the series arrives.

It’s difficult to talk about the main characters of the story without revealing a lot of spoilers. I won’t do that but I will point out that each of them has a deep background story that explains why they have the drives they have, and also helps to being them together as a group. Each has a strength and a weakness that can make their lives difficult at times and when they must battle the forces placed against them, there is strife and argument among them. That makes them not perfect, not overpowered either. They must come to act together or they will perish alone. Setting up the connections here was well done and there wasn’t anything that I read that bothered me in their actions or the results of those actions.

There are, of course, succubi in this work, but they are not what I would call the traditional kind. The author has taken the idea of them and altered it slightly from being creatures that are purely demonic into a society with its own rules and explanations. The succubi live underground in a city they call Ulthon and the succubi are the descendants of Lilith. Beneath her, the children that she birthed with the help of other Demon Lords are known as Aspects and have demonic forms, that being wings, horns and other such tale tell signs. The children of the Aspects are cambions, half-demon beings that have some of the appearance of a demonic form, but not as severe as the Aspects, who are the pure demonic branch of the succubi in this world.

They do not consume souls, but instead they take life energy from their victims, which makes them age rapidly until they wither and die. They do so through contact with their victims, though they prefer kissing them until they fade away.

The cambions appear normally as beautiful albino women with long hair and amber eyes who, at least in the cases that we are shown, are vain about their looks and use their powers of suggestion in their voices and the pheromones that they produce, to alter and control the thoughts of others around them by making their victim’s reality alter to what the succubus wants it to be.

They have a demonic form that appears momentarily when they are feeding which have horns, pointed ears, sharp claws on their fingers and bat wings that sprout from their back. They also have a tail and their canines sharpen to sharp points that are similar to a vampire.

But what I think is slightly odd is that they are also warriors. Normally succubi in most stories do not fight, they seduce and control their targets. In this universe, they carry weaponry, a long sword and a scourge. It seems odd to me that they would use a scourge as it doesn’t seem like something that makes sense for them to use. Mind you, I prefer pitchforks myself and the occasional sword… I do wonder if the succubi here just have those weapons for their last defence and little more as there isn’t much in the way of fighting scenes for the succubi in this story.

It’s interesting to note that the succubi call their slaves “thralls” as well. They are beings of no will that obey commands given them with no thought even to the point of their certain death. More so that any thrall can be controlled by any succubus’ voice. This interests me as I can see this being a weapon that one succubus might use against another. They all seem to be in a competition with each other for a place of power and I wonder if that will come to haunt them later.

The main succubus character, Phaera, is the first daughter of the succubus queen in the book, Nahemia. She is very much a being that wants power and is willing to do whatever she needs to in order to be with that power… and she finds one. But that power, the force of evil in this world, isn’t affected by her powers and the question becomes as the story goes on, is it the lust for power that makes her act in the way she does, or is it something else?

I would have liked to have seen more of the succubi, but of course they are supporting characters in this work and that wasn’t likely to make them core characters. However Phaera makes her presence known throughout most of the story when the true evil being appears and I think that she will pop up again in the next book… I can see the hero that she would try to take control of already, again not going to spoil that, and I look forward to seeing what plans and traps she and her sisters will be planning in the future…

As for style, the author writes well, and I didn’t come across anything in the  story that pulled me out of the world. I did have a moment wondering if the heroes would ever get to their goal for all of the problems that confronted them. I understand that this was necessary to make them all a cohesive fighting force and the climax of the story makes good use of that. I just wonder if perhaps one less battle sequence and one more reveal of the evil side would have been a better thought?

Otherwise, it’s a tight read, well edited and a pleasure to read…

I’m giving this work five pitchforks out of five.

An excellent read, wonderful characters and I did rather like the succubi that appeared in the story. I will be looking for the next book in the series and I hope that appears soon for there is so much to be still told…

Succubi Image of the Week 199

In the mythos of The Realm of the Succubi, yellow tails are something special. They are very rare and have the addition of their powers being somewhat… random in their effects at times…

I thought of this when I found this image on DeviantArt a little while ago, and so she is going to be the Succubi of the Week…

Devil Strip by Ink Pot

Devil Strip by Ink Pot

This lovely, sexy Succubus is the creation of the artist Svetlana Tigai, who calls themselves Ink Pot on DeviantArt and other places on the internet. This particularly sexy work is called Devil Strip and I found it originally here on DeviantArt. You can also visit her main page on DeviantArt here or you can have a look at her blog here as well.

Svetlana has created a wide variety of art from fantasy, like this beautiful Succubus, to what can be called portrait art for lack of a better description. Her works are both in drawings, like this, and as well digital art and 3D rendering. I do hope that readers of the Tale will visit her sites and admire her art as much as I do…

I love this art a bunch… Her tail is perfect, she has that air about her that, never mind her horns and tail, make her a Succubus. I think that the combination of yellow, or gold, horns and a red tail is interesting as well… There has to be a story in that somewhere to ponder I think…

Lovely long sexy hair she has… I think the combination of red hair and her horns is right somehow, though I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is that makes it look so right to me. The boots add a perfect flair to her character which is just the icing on the cake of her entire look.

A classy, sexy, seductive Succubus and I’m so very happy that I found her…

Naughty but not quite Nice for a Succubus Costume..

I am still somewhat peeved by the reuse of costumes on occasion. To take something that has nothing in it to be connected with Succubi or Devil Girls and try to pass it off as one bothers me.

It’s not right, makes no sense. and really shouldn’t happen.

But I found one that is, sadly, attempting a triple-play I think in the bad idea department…

Fever Naughty But Nice Reversible Devil and Angel CostumeThis is called the Fever Naughty But Nice Reversible Devil and Angel Costume. That’s a mouthful, but continuing on…

The costume comes with the red dress which is, according to the ad copy, reverseable into a white one. The horns also come with it as do a halo, and that’s all that comes in the package.

The pitchfork, fishnets and shoes are not included, nor I have to assume is the gaudy chocker slash necklace she is wearing…

It sells for $50 on various sites on the web…

It’s… well it looks cheap to be honest. The sort of thing that I think would be okay for a casual public party or for handing out treats at the door, but otherwise I can’t see all that much sexy in this…

The front zip of the dress bothers me quite a lot as well. I just think that it adds to the cheapness of the look and it makes me wonder why it isn’t a rear zip-up.

Oh, it doesn’t come with a tail either, which wouldn’t help this look at all either so that’s not that much of a loss really…

I do have to give the model credit for making this look better than it is, the hair style helps in that as does her look and pose, but like they say putting lipstick on a pig doesn’t help its looks much.

I’ll give this a single pitchfork out of five.

Not the worst thing I have found, but it certainly isn’t the best thing by far…

And with some luck, next week’s costume will be one of the best or someone will be pitchforked…

A lot.

Desires 1

This is the beginning of a series of RPs that I have decided to call Desires. We have had Temptations and so it only makes sense that we have a series of Desires to share…

Desires was first seen on the Hypnopics Collective back in 2006 and was an invitation only series of RPs that I had with a very select number of members on the Collective at that time…

The first of these was with a player who called themselves MacroLass….

Desires – Beach Oasis

By MacroLass and Tera S

Part One

It was a dark and stormy night….

Actually it wasn’t… It was a bright sunshiny day…

The waves from the ocean rolled slowly over the white sand of the beach in a soothing relaxing way. The warm sun heated the air making it thick and heavy. The air seemed to slowly sap the will of anyone that dared to spend the time to be out and enjoying the weather and the beach itself. Near the far edge of the beach was a small bar area that seemed to be unattended at the moment. The place looked almost deserted. Nothing seemed to be on the beach except for one person near the water’s edge…

She lay face down on a red beach towel. The loosened straps of the red string bikini she wore fell in waves to the sides of her body. Her mane of raven black hair surrounded her head like a dark halo. Peeking out of her hair a pair of red horns caught the sunshine and glowed like two small suns in the darkness of her hair. The sun had tanned her skin a warm bronze colour. A light sheen of sweat made her skin glisten in the light catching smooth glints of light that sparkled off her skin. Just about her bum a long sinious red tail lay over her right cheek and twitched slightly in the warmth of the sun. To her side a small red cooler lay awaiting her needs. A small pile of clothing awaited her use later if need be…

At the other end of the beach a green portal shimmered into existence and caught her attention…

Tera looked up and with a smile on her lips said in a soft voice, “A guest… How lovely…”

Out of the portal stepped a topheavy blonde wearing a green and white superhero-ish costume with a stylized ‘F’ on the front. She winced to a moment as the sun assaulted her eyes. “Wow, it’s bright out here,” she declared as a pair of sunglasses formed over her eyes.

Looking about, she spotted the woman sunbathing and moved up towards her. “Excuse me,” she asked in a friendly voice. “I hope I’m not interrupting you. My name’s Flexi and I just came through that portal there.” She points to the emerald circle. “I was wondering if you could tell me where I am please?”

That’s an interesting question isn’t it? And it will be fun to answer…
