It needs a better pitchfork for one thing…

Fancy Red See Through Sexy Halloween Devil CostumeI know that I will never find the perfect costume… at least it seems that way doesn’t it? Still, sometimes there are some costumes that at least try… Sometimes…

This is called the Fancy Red See Through Sexy Halloween Devil Costume and it comes with the horns, the dress and the pitchfork. Shoes are not included, there is no tail and it lists for $77 US, but can be found for as little as $22 US at many online stores.

Obviously the pitchfork is one of my most disliked ones. It’s cheap, tacky, and honestly would break if you waved it around a little bit vigorously. The horns really do not match the dress either, and that bothers me. It’s obvious that someone found a reasonably nice dress, looked around for what wasn’t selling and then tossed a pair of lousy horns and a worthless pitchfork at it, made up a name for it, and sold it.

Looking at the picture, I wonder if the amount of creativity that was used to add the little bits of dried leaves and twigs at the model’s feet couldn’t have been used to make this costume even slightly better than it is. Overall it really doesn’t have all that much going for it as a creative costume in itself. Mind you, being see-through I’m sure that would have some effect, but what else is there?

When I look at this costume I see a ballerina and really not so much one of the Succubi, or even a Devil Girl for that matter. I do give points for the frills around the hem and over the shoulders not to be over the top or overwhelming, many costumes like this do tend to have that happen.

As a “start here and do something with this” costume, I’m not really seeing much that could be done to make it more Succubish honestly. The horns and pitchfork have to go, that’s a given. There are many better ones that can be found to replace them. Beyond that… I just haven’t much desire for this…

Two out of five pitchforks.

Perhaps as a “last choice when the shelves are bare” but that’s a real maybe.

I’d give you a better pitch fork, Your Majesty, but my best one is stuck in the tuschy of the person who designed this costume.

And, are we sure those are horns? They look like the pincers on the head of an earwig.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like the pincer horns are getting a lot of attention recently. I guess there’s a lot of giant alien bug people working as costume designers these days.

I think that is one of the best descriptions I have heard…
