Desires 14

Shadows of oneself can be more than that… Sometimes…

Desires – Truths

By MZ and Tera S

Part Three

Why am I so nervous…. She’s the woman of my dreams…. more so than I could even imagine…. She wants me and I definitely want her…. why should it be anymore complicated than that.

Standing at the front door as nervous as the day he first met Tera, Curtis held a single hand carved wooded rose. The flowing birch stem and inlayed black cherry rose bloom was a marvel of his craftsmanship. No detail was missed, even the faintest vein in each pedal received attention. The rose wouldn’t be a surprise to Tera for he had brought her one for everyone of their dates since the first night together. As he gently knocked on Tera’s door, he waited eagerly for her to open the door and bless his vision with her presence once more. His heart raced like a kid on Christmas day.

Where are they?…. they said it would be here by now….. I want her to be surprised.

Slowly a flatbed truck pulled up at the house carrying Curtis’ big surprise for Tera. Taking him virtually every spare moment he had to finish by their one year anniversary, it expressed just how much Tera meant to him. The mahogany piece depicted a scene from a tale about a sailor who devoted his life to capturing a mermaid, only to see how wrong it was for him to hold onto someone so precious and needed in the world. The sailor’s eyes showed his pain at the lost of his life’s dream, but his face radiated pure enjoyment for not depriving the world of the mystery behind the mermaid’s existence. With the mermaid delicately floating at the surface and blowing a kiss good bye, Curtis showed the mermaid’s mystery was just as important as her freedom and deep love of the sailor. The title read, “Love Does The Right Thing.”

Hearing the sweet sound of Tera’s heels approaching from behind the door, Curtis ran his hand through his slicked up hair and adjusts the knot of his tie. Working on last minute details of his piece, Curtis failed to notice the small amount of saw dust resting on his black tux shoulders. Thinking he had caught every last detail from his freshly polished shoes to locating red heart shaped cufflinks, Curtis smoothed out his deep red vest.

My love is here.

She hopes at least… More next time…

So much anticipation between the lines of a seemingly innocuous narrative . . .

I think it might have been a lil too much…
