And this will begin the last series of RPs in the Temptations series. Fittingly it is with someone that I call my hero for that is what he is in my eyes always…

Hitchhiking across the country is not the safest thing to do, but after you put time in the ‘Stan nothing is as bad. Devon finds himself walking down a stretch of darkening and seemingly deserted highway. With naught more than a rucksack on his back and a stick in his hand for walking or protection. His mind just running in circles, never staying on a topic, not really in the present…the lights are on but no one is home.
In the distance a pair of headlights peeked over the hills and the sound of an engine echoed over the ground around him. It took a short while but eventually it was quite clear that a car was approaching him, going in his direction since, really, there was only two ways to go on the highway…
There was the sound of gravel crunching behind him and then a woman’s voice called out, “Hey buddy? You need a ride before you fall over and die by the side of the road?”
When he turned around, he would see a small red convertible, the top down, a woman behind the wheel. She wore mirrored sunglasses, her dark hair in a ponytail held by a red scrunchie. She was pretty in a don’t mess with me or I’ll kick your butt sort of way… As for how she was dressed, that was a simple red t-shirt, blue jeans and running shoes…
The question was of course, what has behind all of that?
At first did not react to the noise, or the presence of the car. He walks a couple more steps, before he stops and looks to the Lady driving the car. He seems a touch surprised to see the car that close.
“I doubt I will drop dead, but I would not be surprised if it happened. However a ride to the next town is better than walking there. ”
Taking off the rucksack he drops it in the back seat, he sets the stick beside it,and then opens the door and climbs into the car. He buckles in and turns to the driver.
“My name is Devon, Devon Knightburnn. I am just walking around trying to reconcile life, and why we are here.”
Nothing like asking the big questions of life is there?
More next time…
