Marking a passing…

With tears in my eyes, I want to mark the passing of a dear friend’s wife today…. She passed into the next realm early this morning leaving love and memories with those that knew her, loved her, and knew of the love and life she shared with her husband and family…

I have only slipped away into the next room, I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Play, smile, think of me. All is well.

It hurts when you lose someone in your family… While she was not my real grandmother, I never met her, she was, in a way, more than that as is her husband whom I will be crying for today…

Blessed be Grandmother…

Rest and know that you are loved by us all…

O Love that should not let us go:
can you explain what happened here?
The death of one whom we love so
has stripped away our polished glow
    of civilized veneer.

If only you were here, O Love,
perhaps we would not need to mourn.
If you rained power from above
to wrap your child safe, like a glove,
this life would not be torn.

Yet if, O Love, as you profess,
you are our Rising and our Life,
we trust that you will coalesce
your grace to cradle our duress
    and nurture us through strife.

O Love who will not let us go,
transform our grief and pain, we pray,
to weep and laugh for one we know
now gone, then call us forth and show
    us to a brighter day.
