The questions in life are ones that each being must answer. Queen of the Succubi or anyone else, that is the question that we must answer…
By TeraS and Legion & Alei
I smile and blush as the joy of Tera’s words reaches me.
And I smile, spreading that love throughout the room. I simply can’t help myself. In the past such an action would have resulted in … changes to those who felt it, uncontrollable sexual desire so intense as to leave it’s mark forevermore on those it touched. But now it conveys something else … a love so deep that it makes my very soul tremble, so pure as to make me weep. And to think … that Tera could love me like this … .
I walk forward and take Tera’s hand, watching even her eyes change their gaze as my love flows into her.
“And there is more Maria. You are a mother now with children. Perhaps you are a mother with challenges, perhaps they did not come from your womb, but to your children, do you think that makes a difference? To your husband, do you think you are any less of his wife? You can not simply walk away from this because there is danger or there are potential difficulties. Whatever those difficulties might be, you have people who depend on your now, who depend on your love and guidance. Would you take that away from them because it’s more difficult for you, knowing who and what you are?” I say with a soft smile.
“Legion hasn’t given you anything, except for making it easier to love and oblivion so that you could lay down your responsibilities to the Queen and your sisters. Perhaps it might make things easier, but that is all.”
“I’ve learned … that love is what a Succubus truly is … perhaps you walk in the grey between the light and darkness … but it is love that guides you. If you truly love this man and these children … your love will guide you to them and fill their lives with infinite joy. But when you go to them now … it will not be simply a shadow of who you are, it will be all of you. Do the one’s you love deserve anything less?” I say with a soft gentle smile.
Maria quietly bowed her head.
She didn’t know what to do or what was fair or right anymore. But she answered the woman with the Queen quietly, “Yes… yes they do. But I don’t know what to do to make all this right anymore. I don’t want to lose what I have been given but I do not wish to harm anyone… the Queen or otherwise.”
She sighed softly, “I should never have agreed to what I did with Legion.”
Tera sighed, “No… No you shouldn’t have… So then.. I ask you again Maria… What is the most important thing to you… Truly… Look inside of yourself and see what is and what matters…”
She squeezed Andrea’s hand and said with a smile, “I think that we two have a good idea of what we want…”
I blush as Tera squeezes my hand and looks at me. Gently I draw myself closer to her and softly kiss her cheek. “Indeed we do … ” I say in a soft voice. “And amongst those things that we wish for Maria is children, just as you do … and to be bound to each other for all time in love. Soon this place will be a home and echo with the sounds of love and joy from end to end.”
I turn to Maria and smile. “No, it will not be easy, and there will always be risks. Only those who are dead risk nothing. But dreams are worth chasing Maria, dreams are worth making into reality, not by a quick trade of what you are for something momentary, but by following your heart and finding a way to make it so. You have that strength and power within yourself, if you look hard enough for it.”
Seeing the Queen and this mortal (mortal?) woman so happy and so obviously in love didn’t make Maria feel any less confused or any less despondant. In fact, it only made it worse.
“I do not know what is most important to me my Queen as both lives are. If I knew the answer I suppose I wouldn’t have gotten into this in the first place,” she said softly.
She knew she should be happy that the Queen had this love, and yes, it was real love, Maria could tell, and she was. Maybe it would make her understand better what Maria had went through, maybe not but it was something. But for some reason it still made her heart heavy.
She also knew that the Queen wasn’t going to let what she had said be her answer so she looked up and said quietly, “Serving my Queen and being a Succubi is what matters and what is most important to me my Queen.”
Tera shook her head and smiled, “No Maria… That is what you believe I want to hear…. It’s not the truth… Not even close to it… What you want more than anything else is to go back to that family…. Forget all about this…. Be their mother… Wife and more… I can see that in you Maria…”
She tilted her head in that way she did when she had something to say that was meant to be listened to and began. “If you cannot see, then there is nothing that I can do to make you do so… The words you speak are only there to mask your from what you truly want… Truly need…. If you accept the illusion of the world… The truth cannot be…”
A lock of hair fell over Tera’s right eye and she said to her clearly, “Truth Maria. Say it…. Please?”
Maria looked at the Queen and was now puzzled, she had spoken the truth. But it was as if the Queen wanted another answer. It pained her deeply that she had caused such harm for her own selfishness. The Queen had been right in what she had said earlier, she had broken much faith without thinking. Perhaps someday she would be able to do as the Queen suggested and live as both a Succubi in a mortal guise, but she knew that she needed to learn more before that could ever happen.
Maria did want to return to the family she had left, but she couldn’t be both Succubi and human, at least not now. And to try would only serve to dishonor the Queen and family she had had for centuries. And she had done enough of that already.
Looking into the Queen’s eyes she said softly, “The truth is that I am a Succubi and I should not have given in to desires that went against what has been written for centuries beyond number. You are right, oh Queen, that others have taken human form and lived. They just have not crossed the line I crossed. I could return, but it should be for the right reasons, and I have proven my motives are not.”
She looked at the Queen and her mortal lover, “I am, and only am A Succubi, and it is all I should be until the day I learn what I must and what you have always known my Queen.”
Knowledge isn’t always knowing…
